UNDP co-organized the Inaugural SA Forum with the UNWG, which took place on 14-15 March 2019 in New Delhi, India. This was the first event of this kind in South Asia. The forum raised awareness about business and human rights issues in South Asia and facilitated the implementation of the UNGPs, including through the development of NAPs. The Forum was an opportunity to explore how businesses can collaborate with governments, civil society, academia, and other social actors to mitigate the adverse impact of their activities on human rights and contribute to achieving SDGs in South Asia. UNDP’s Administrator, Achim Steiner, addressed the audience and highlighted UNDP’s commitment to advancing human rights in the region.2 The strong participation of government representatives, CSOs and academia was vital to the success of the event.
